SQUADS

Queen’s rowing offers students at QUB the opportunity to take up a unique sport that would otherwise be difficult to access. Our newly refurbished boat house along with talented coaches provide students with world class facilities to take up rowing at a beginner level and to progress right through to become international athletes.

We meet every Wednesday and Saturday for water sessions in order to develop technique and fitness in the boats, for various competitions throughout the UK and Ireland. In addition, we host land based training sessions including weights, circuits and ergometers (rowing machines) to further improve the standards of our athletes.

We welcome people from all backgrounds, from high levels of sporting competition to those exploring the opportunities of the university. Queen’s Rowing look forward to developing a new generation of ambitious, enthusiastic and motivated university rowers as we head into the new season.

Novice
Novice is the beginner category, which offers a unique opportunity for University students to try a brand new sport and still be able to compete at competitions in the UK and Ireland with others in their category. We take people from all sporting backgrounds, or none and will teach you how to row. Our novice squads have historically done very well: winning at BUCs and Irish Championships.

Club
If you have already rowed before you can still join our club rowers who no longer qualify in the novice category.

High Performance
The Elite Athlete and Academy Scholarship Programmes are designed to develop and nurture student athletes at Queen’s. There are specific criteria to fulfil for application to our scholarship programmes (more info can be found in the scholarship section of our website).
