Queen’s squads turned in good solid performances at both Bann HOR in Coleraine and the London Fours HOR this weekend.
In almost perfect conditions on the Bann the Women’s Intermediate IV was unlucky to be beaten by a very strong Bann crew in the morning race. The second race of the day saw the two novice squads race for the first time, and while there were no pennants, both men and women had good races and gave those on the bank a glimpse of things to come. The men’s VIII beat the Lady Victoria VIII comfortably and the faster of the two women’s VIIIs was less than a minute behind the BRC Women’s Masters VIII.
Today In London the senior squads had three crews competing in the London Fours HOR. The HOR which had over 450 crews, was won by the Leander elite lightweight 4x- in a time of 18.18.24. The Queen’s elite 4x- came 5th in a time of 18.30.02. The Queen’s elite 4+ were placed 58th in a time of 19.26.28, and further down the field but still having a very strong row was the Queen’s Ladies crew rowing as elite 4- and posting a time of 21.27.12. All the more impressive when we remember that for three of these women this is only their second season in the sport!
