Brave performance!
Beating Oxford as they come to their racing peak was always going to be a big ask – to live with them and not look out of place beside them would be tough enough, and today on the Thames their class was never in doubt, in spite of the best efforts of Queen’s senior squad. Both the first and second eight were beaten. The second eight had almost a length on Isis by Fulham FC, however failed to lengthen and were rowed down. The first eight held the Blue Boat off the start, but couldn’t hold the pace off the Mile post.
But let’s not be too downhearted. It was a brave performance by both crews, and it’s still early in the season.
