Queen’s finished up at BUCS Regatta 2018 in style with a flurry of strong performances and some medals to boot.
The Men’s Championship 4X took Gold medal with a very solid performance, taking the lead at the 1km mark and seeing off competition from Reading to take the top spot.
This added to the Silver medal won by the Women’s Beginner 8+ earlier in the day, seeing off a late surge by Bath to cap off a weekend of great performances by the Ladies Club. With both Beginner 8+s making the Semi-Finals it shows the strength in depth across the Women’s Novice squad.
Along with the Novices the Women’s Intermediate 4+ put in a storming performance to take first in the B Final. With 5 crews neck and neck entering the last 500m the Ladies produced a blistering wind-up to pull ahead of their competitors and finish the weekend on a high.
The Men’s Intermediate 4X narrowly missed out on Bronze, finishing 4th in the Final while Dan Colbeck qualified for the Men’s Beginner 1X Semi Finals, finishing 10th overall out of 60 entries. The Men’s Intermediate 2- made the A final but were unable to replicate their strong performance from the Semi Final and finished 6th.
