Congratulations to the Ladies club for their outstanding result at BUSA Regatta in Strathclyde this weekend.
The senior VIII brought home the bronze medal from the women’s Championship VIIIs race on Sunday following an impressive performance in their heat, repechage and final. The girls missed out on qualifying straight to the final in a tough heat when they came third, however they made sure to secure their place with a comfortable win in the repechage. They pulled out all the stops for the six-boat final which consisted of Durham, Edinburgh, UWE, Birmingham, Exeter and Queens, and crossed the line in 7:54 just behind Birmingham and Durham. The crew from stroke to bow was Katie Leonard, Louise Coll, Kathryn Larmour, Zoe Patterson, Alice Moffitt, Nicola Robinson, Helen McGourty and Maria McGrath, coxed by Ellen Thompson.
A special congratulations also to the lightweight pair of Helen Bergin and Aine De Bariod whose performance in the Championship pairs category was commendable. The girls battled it out amongst the heavyweights to make it through their heat and came in a close fourth place in the repechage. Well done girls!
