
The 12th World University Rowing Championship gets under way
Flat calm conditions met the athletes on the first day of the World University Rowing Championship at the Kazan Rowing Centre. The Queen’s girls of Hannah Lavery, Emma Kerrigan, Alex Greene and Claire McIlwaine, representing Ireland, had a challenging draw in heat two of the Women’s 4-. The Irish Boat advanced to tomorrows repechage after finishing 3rd in their heat, behind Russia and Poland. The Repechage will take place tomorrow where Ireland will be fighting it out against Ukraine, New Zealand and Norway for a place in the A final. Other Irish boats also saw success in the early morning rounds with Claire Lambe advancing straight to the final in the W1X .
