World University Rowing Championships Day 3
The 12th World University Rowing Championship concluded today in Kazan, with Ireland’s women’s 4-, who are all from Queens finishing 6th in the ‘A’ final. The girls have enjoyed their experience in Russia and will bring back many fond memories that are sure to inspire the current and hopefully large number of new members that will take to the water representing Queen’s this coming season. Niall Kenny finished 5th for Ireland in the final of the ML1x and Claire Lambe took sliver for Ireland in the WL1x which continues Irelands good form over the years at the World University Rowing Championship, where they have won at last one medal at every Championship where they have entered crews.
As expected the organising committee in Kazan ran a successful event. We will hope that more QUB students will be selected for the 13 World University Rowing Championship next year when it retunes to Kazan as part of the new revamped International world university games.
The Queens women’s 4- crew would like to thank everyone that helped them on their journey to Kazan, in particular Chief QUB women’s coach Julie Lynch who accompanied the girls to Russia, QUB head rowing coach Mick Desmond, the lady victory boat club, Rowing Ireland, CUSAI Ireland and importantly QUB Sport.
